2015 - Club Championships (QEHS)
Towy riders held their second Club Championship at QE High School on Saturday. Racing was held on the tight and twisty circuit around the perimeter road, which gave the large crowds great entertainment throughout the afternoon. The racing consisted of a one lap time trial, with riders racing individually against the clock. The riders then competed in a bunch circuit race in their particular age category.

The racing began with the under 8’s. Towy rider’s club champion for the boys was Rory Gravelle, with Aaron Bhatercherjez taking silver and Rhys Percey the bronze. The two Thomas sisters flew around with Kirsty becoming club champion and Carey taking silver with Freya Bhatercherjez taking bronze.

The under 10’s boys champion was Osian Bhatercherjez with Will Davies just behind taking silver and Sion Jones getting the bronze even though he fell heavily on the final lap. The girls racing was just as competitive with Freya James becoming club champion, Amy Greatrick taking silver and Demi Bevan the bronze.

A big field competed in the under 12’s, following the time-trial, with the positions changing right up to the final lap. Iolo Dafydd became boy’s club champion, Charlie Barnwell just behind taking the silver and Liam Edwards the bronze. Rosie Finucane took the Girls club champion title, with Ruby Gravelle taking the silver medal.

The under 14’s and 16’s combined in a fast race, straight from the gun. Guto Dafydd broke away with Bryn Davies, chased by new member Edward Morgan and Cian Roberts. Guto rode away to become under 14 boy’s club champion, with Bryn taking the silver and Cian the bronze. Edward taking the under 16’s club champion title.

A two way battle developed in the girl’s race with Emma Finucane riding strongly to become U14 girl’s club champion, with Danni Parker a great silver after a fantastic season. Carla Wittal Williams rode well to become our under 16’s girls champion.

Congratulations to all the competitors and parents who made it such a great day. The Towy riders will now focus on the Cyclo-Cross season until the end of the year.
