2016 - British Track and Circuit race championships
The last two weekends saw the British Championships for both track and road
decided. The towy riders were represented with several riders qualifying and
competing on both weekends. The British Track omnium championships were help
at Maindy in Cardiff, which meant a little les travelling for the racers for once. The
day consisted of five different races with each region in the UK sending their best
five riders to compete for the Championship. In the under 12 support races, Iolo
Dafydd placed 4 th with Tomos Perkins in 5 th . The racing was fast and furious in the
under 14 boys with positions changing after every race. Following an attacking points
race from Evan Richards and Guto Dafydd, Evan placed 2 nd overall with Guto 7 th .
There was little doubt who the favourite was in the under 14 girls with Emma
Finucane dominating the racing taking 1 st and the title of British Track Omnium
champion. There were great rides from Amy Cole and Rosie Finucane who just
missed out on the podium.

The following weekend the Towies travelled to East London for the British Circuit
Race championships. The ciruit at Redbridge consists of the famous Hogenberg
climb that provides a fitting finish for the races. Iolo Dafydd once again represented
the Towies in the under 12’s getting in the top 10. The under 14 boys had Evan
Richards, Bryn Davies and Guto Dafydd all racing in a field of 80 riders. Guto proved
the best of the Towies with a 9 th place with both Evan and Bryn finishing in the top
20. Once again Emma Finucane proved that she is the rider on form in the under 14
girls by powering up the Hogenberg to take a clear win and become double British
champion by taking the circuit race title. Danni Parker had an excellent race taking
3 rd place on the podium with great performances from Rosie Finucane and Amy
Cole.

The Towies race closer to home this week with a double header of the Chepstow
and Abergavenny Grand Prix.
