National Youth Omnium Championships 2017
The iconic Herne Hill Velodrome in London on Sunday saw Carmarthenshire's young female cycling talent shine against National competition and secure local medal success.
The venue hosted the National Omnium (track) Championships and Towy Riders / Towy Racing Cycling Club prodigies Ella Barnwell, Emma Finucane and Rosie Finucane all graced the steps of the podium within their respective age categories.
In the Under 16 category, recently selected British Olympic Association Future Stars member Ella secured the gold medal along with the coveted National jersey, closely followed in second place by Emma Finucane who secured the silver medal.
Ella will be representing Great Britain at the prestigious Goyr 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival for future stars aged between 14 & 17 as one of six members of the ladies cycling squad, amongst 3,000 athletes from 50 European Nations.
Emma was fresh from her podium top step at the recent Under 16 National Youth Circuit races at Hillingdon at the beginning of June and it was therefore clear that both ladies brought with them a good run of form to the event.
Not to be outdone by her older sister, Rosie Finucane also secured a silver medal in the Under 14 category, ensuring an impressive showing by our local female riders.
